Roalson convicted after three hours of deliberation
HAYWARD, Wis. (WEAU) – A jury has convicted the man accused of having a role in the stabbing death of a 93-year-old woman nearly three years ago.
Court records show Christopher Roalson, 30, of Radisson, was found guilty of First Degree Intentional Homicide as a Party to the Crime, and Burglary as a Party to the Crime on Friday afternoon. The jury reached a verdict after nearly three hours of deliberation. A sentencing hearing hasn’t been scheduled, but is expected in another two months.
Prosecutors say Roalson and Austin Davis, 18, of Ojibwa broke into Irena Roszak's Radisson home and stabbed her to death in 2009. A Vilas County jury is heard the case because of recent media coverage.

HAYWARD, Wis. (WEAU) – A teenager who’s serving time in what officers call a “thrill kill” told the court that he heard screaming and someone saying “Hail Satan” coming from the bedroom of a 93-year-old murder victim during the night of her death.
Wednesday was the third day of the Christopher Roalson Trial in Hayward. Roalson, 30, of Radisson, is charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide as a Party to the Crime in the death of Irena Roszak. Prosecutors say Roalson and Austin Davis, 18, of Ojibwa broke into her Radisson home and stabbed her to death in 2009. A Vilas County jury is hearing the case because of recent media coverage.
Austin Davis, 18, of Ojibwa, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his involvement in Rozak’s death. When asked about the night of Roszak’s death, Davis told the court that he had thought he and Roalson were just going to burglarize the house. He also said that he didn’t know if Roalson planned to do anything else there. Davis says Roalson seemed “happy and cheery” after they left Roszak’s home that night, and that Roalson went on to say that he was Satan’s son.
Court records show that prosecutors rested their case late Wednesday, and the defense will present its case on Thursday. Both sides are expected to present closing arguments on Friday morning.
