Woman killed in human sacrifice ritual in Nalasopara, 6 arrested
Sandhya Nair, TNN Dec 15, 2013, 02.34AM IST
MUMBAI: A day after the state assembly passed the anti-superstition bill, a tantrik and five others were arrested by Thane rural police for killing a 50-year-old woman in a human sacrifice ritual.
The victim was identified as Kalavati Gupta, a resident of Vakola, Santacruz (E), whose torso was found in Dhanivbhaug, Nalasopara (E), on November 17. Her son identified the headless body from the clothes and ornaments when he saw pictures displayed at a police station in Shahapur on December 10.
According to the police, Kalavati had, for the past one year, been visiting a tantrik, Sarvajeet Kahar (57), who lives in the Indian Airlines Colony in Kalina, to seek a cure for her paralytic 30-year-old son, Radheshyam.
Kahar works as a technician in Air India's transport department and reportedly draws a monthly salary of Rs 65,000. At home, he would practise as a tantrik.
Kalavati's neighbour Ramdhani Yadav (33), an auto-rickshaw owner, used to drop her at times at Kahar's residence. Slowly, Ramdhani and his brother Gulab (28) also started visiting the tantrik.
When Ramdhani asked for a cure for his ailing wife and Gulab a solution to his marital discord, the tantrik suggested they sacrifice a goat. "He, however, emphasised that human sacrifice was supreme. That is when the Yadav brothers thought of sacrificing Kalavati," said Thane rural additional superintendent of police Sangramsinh Nishandar.
On November 15, Gulab invited the tantrik to his Vakola home and told him about the plan. The next day, the Yadav brothers took Kalavati in an autorickshaw to Gulab's second home in Nalasopara on the pretext that they would be doing a pooja to get rid of their problems.
Shyamsunder Gupta (42), an auto driver, also accompanied them. Kahar, his son Pankaj (22) and his cousin Satyanarayan Gaud (48), who accompanies him for pooja sessions, also arrived there.
After collecting mattresses, pooja items and a dagger, the group went to a secluded spot in Nalasopara at 10.30 pm. As Kalavati bent down to perform the pooja, Shyamsunder struck at her with the dagger. The others took turns to help him chop the head.
The accused have been arrested for murder and destroying evidence and booked under sections of the new anti-superstition bill.

7-yr-old boy murdered in satanic ritual

Correspondent

TURA, Oct 8 – In a gruesome incident that has sent shivers down the spine of many people a seven year old boy from BSF campus in Praharinagar here was murdered and his body dumped on Wednesday night in what is being termed as a case of human sacrifice.

The young boy Krishna Singh, studying in Class II, was residing in the family quarters of the 121 Battalion of the BSF in Praharinagar. His father is a water carrier in the force.

He had gone out with his ten year old elder brother to the puja temple 200 metres from his house inside the BSF campus around 5 pm.

While the elder brother was offering prayers the younger one said he would return home. However, when the elder brother returned home he found his sibling hadn’t returned. A frantic search was carried out well into the night by the BSF personnel but to no avail.

At 6 am next day, his naked body was found in a bush just behind the premises not very far from the staff quarters.

The boy had several stab marks and appeared to have burn marks all over his skin from incense sticks lodged on his body. The burn marks were on his forehead, left ear, his stomach, chest and even his thighs.

A post-mortem at Tura civil hospital ruled out sexual assault but stated that the young boy died from multiple grievous injuries on his vital organs. His pancreas, liver, lungs and even his spleen had apparently ruptured from the several stabs onto his body.

The murderer is believed to have used a sharp object to repeatedly stab the boy’s body in a satanic ritual. Medical experts believe the child suffered immensely before his death.

Police have registered a case of murder and several persons from the campus have been questioned.

One of the prime suspects is a self-styled Godman or Tantrik who was last seen on Wednesday inside the campus. On Thursday morning when the body was found the Tantrik had already disappeared. He was located in Mancachar town of Dhubri district, Assam.

Tura police has dispatched a team to bring in the Tantrik for questioning on Thursday but was unsuccessful as an angry mob refused to allow them to take their Godman into custody. Efforts are being made through the Assam police to get the Tantrik to Tura for interrogation.

PTI adds: Meanwhile, two BSF men have been detained by the police in connection with the case.

Havildar Chandrawan and Constable Babu Khan are being questioned by police at Tura, Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal said today.

A team from Meghalaya Police has been sent to Mancachar in Assam from where an occultist had visited the BSF campus a few days back. The occultist was picked up and released on PR bond at Mancachar police station today.

No mercy for boy’s killers: BSF IG

OCTOBER 22ND, 2011

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) has asserted that there would no mercy for any BSF personnel if they are found involved in the recent killing of seven-year-old boy, Krishna Singh, at Praharinagar BSF outpost in West Garo Hills district earlier this month.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 3rd Inter Frontier BSF Badminton Championship here on Friday, the BSF IG Sudesh Kumar said, “BSF or no BSF a criminal is a criminal and law would take its own course.”

Killing of Krishna Singh who was a son of Kamal Singh, a water carrier of the 121 Battalion of the BSF, was suspected carried out for superstitious human sacrifice by some religious bigots. The boy had disappeared while on a visit to the temple inside the BSF base to offer prayers on the occasion of Durga Puja on the third day of celebrations. His body was recovered next morning after a frantic search. The body bore marks of several stab injuries.

The needle of suspicion was also pointed to one ‘tantrik’ (black magician) from Assam who was friendly with some BSF men and reportedly seen inside the campus during the Durga Puja celebrations. The ‘tantrik’ went untraced after the body of the child had been recovered.

“I have spoken to the DG of police in Assam to take adequate steps to arrest tantrik for a thorough interrogation”, the BSF IG said.

It may be mentioned that three BSF jawans have since been taken into custody in connection with the murder of the child.

The family of the boy resides in official quarters of the 121 Battalion of the BSF inside Praharinagar camp.
